JOAN FLEISHMAN, PSYD
Clinical Psychologist
Licensed clinical psychologist offering psychotherapy to adults and couples in Oregon & Washington.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, life transitions, chronic illness, cancer treatment, burnout, and relationship issues.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and centered around what matters most to you. Together, we’ll identify limiting patterns and break through obstacles, empowering you to show up in the world more aligned with your values and the person you want to be in your relationships.
I am passionate about supporting individuals recovering from traumatic experiences, couples where both partners are in high-pressure careers, individuals navigating treatment or recovery from cancer or chronic illness, and those working through challenges with confidence and self-worth.
Physicians & High-Pressure Professionals
With over a decade of experience working with healthcare professionals, I have learned that physicians and high-pressure professionals often carry immense emotional weight, but you rarely have the space to process it.
I specialize in supporting individuals in high-pressure, high-responsibility careers, including physicians, executives, entrepreneurs, attorneys, and college/graduate students.
I also work with the spouses/partners of professionals in these demanding roles, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face.
I offer a place where you can step away from your roles as provider or leader and simply be human, supported, and understood. I create a space where you can show up as human, feeling supported, working together to learn new ways of thinking and being that will truly matter.
College Age & Graduate Students
Your 20s and navigating school can be a time of uncertainty, exploration, and experimentation. The pressures of college, both social and academic can be grueling. Therapy can provide the support you need to navigate the challenges of this transformative period, helping you find clarity and confidence during what can feel like an impossible time.
Although I am not currently paneled with insurance companies, I provide superbills for clients wishing to use out-of-network benefits and may be able to submit these for you. Additionally, clients may be able to use their Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to cover the cost of sessions if applicable.

Background & Experience
I earned my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Pacific University's School of Graduate Psychology. After completing a two-year fellowship in Primary Care Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, I returned to the PNW as the Behavioral Health Clinical Director at Oregon Health & Science University in the Department of Family Medicine. There, in addition to my clinical practice, I led the expansion of behavioral health services across six primary care clinics and served as faculty in the Family Medicine Residency program.
During my time at OHSU, I built programs in primary care-based substance use disorder care and trauma-informed care in medical settings. I managed over $4 million in grants and launched Oregon’s largest primary care-based Medication for Opioid Disorder program.
In 2020, I co-founded Tend Health, a mental health startup focused on providing accessible, flexible, expert care to healthcare professionals. Over the course of five years, we expanded from serving a handful of states to 45 states. Tend’s care model is specifically designed with healthcare professionals in mind, offering services delivered by clinicians who deeply understand the demands of the medical field. I spent five years building the company, pursuing funding, and collaborating with investors, which gave me firsthand experience with the dedication and resources required to be a founder. During my time at Tend, I exclusively cared for healthcare professionals.
In 2025, I made the decision to return to my true passion and purpose—clinical practice. I now see patients several days a week and continue to pursue entrepreneurial projects alongside my clinical work.
